The Hideaway Big Bear began with a single, timeworn cabin and a simple idea: to bring it back to life — not just as a place to stay, but as a place to feel something.

What we found was a 1930s log lodge rich with character and potential, tucked quietly beneath the pines just minutes from Big Bear Lake. Over time, it became the anchor for something more — a revived mountain retreat made up of a small collection of fully restored cabins, each one designed to host connection, comfort, and meaningful memories.

We didn’t want to flatten the history out of this place. We wanted to reveal it, carefully layering in modern comforts while leaving the bones intact — original beams, wood-burning fireplaces, yards that spill into the trees. The result is a retreat that feels both rooted and refined, where guests can gather around the fire, share dinner at long tables, and wake to snowfall just beyond their window.

What Makes It a Hideaway

At The Hideaway, winter isn’t just a season — it’s an invitation.

To breathe in the quiet. To watch the flakes pile high on the deck railing. To laugh with friends over coffee, cocoa, or something stronger. To pull on boots and walk to the Village for breakfast. To come back glowing from the slopes and light a fire before sunset.

Our cabins — the original Log Lodge and the tucked-away A-Frame — are spread across a pine-covered property with their own driveway and natural spacing. That means room to play, roam, and reconnect, whether you're visiting as a couple, a family, or a group booking multiple cabins together. Kids build snowmen out front. Dogs chase snowballs. Parents can exhale.

And while the world outside may be snowy and still, inside every cabin you’ll find warmth — from smart amenities to soft linens, from curated interiors to flickering fires. We’ve included everything we’d want on a getaway: thoughtful design, cozy textures, fast Wi-Fi, Sonos speakers, smart TVs, and full kitchens made for real meals and shared time.

We’re not trying to be a resort. We’re not a motel pretending to be a “retreat.”

We’re a small, independently owned haven built on care, creativity, and a love for the feeling of Big Bear in winter. That moment when the night is quiet, the fire is warm, and you realize you’ve slowed down.
